SCAL Alex Alampi Award for Excellence in Art Announced
Salem County Art League presented the second annual Alex Alampi Award for Excellence in Art to 2017 Arthur P. Schalick High School graduate, Trent Lowe, at it’s May general meeting. Trent is the son of Cheryl and John Lowe. While at Schalick, Trent participated on the track and field and cross country teams, the Float Committee, and numerous other extra curricular activities. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society. Trent plans to attend Virginia Commonwealth University to major in Industrial or Communications Design.
The $500 Alampi Award is given to a student who is graduating from a Salem County high school program.
The award was created in honor of Alex Alampi, one of the founders and the first president of The Salem County Art League. Alex was also one of the founding artists of the annual Salem County Arts in Bloom studio tour. As an award-winning artist and lifelong resident of South Jersey, most of Alampi’s subjects were designed to give a glimpse of the beauty and history of the area.
The League plans to present the award annually. Anyone who would like to contribute to the award fund can learn more by clicking here.
